This 3-deck ship was laid down
in the Admiralty dockyard on June 26, 1782 under the guidance of James
Lambe, an English
shipbuilder. The ship was launched on September 26, 1783. In the authors life it was
the second ship with the same name
(the
first, built in 1766, is famous of Chesma
battle).
The "Treh
Hierarkhov" was one of the first Russian copper-bottomed
ship.
The ship participated in battles of second northern war (1788-1790γγ., Sweden against Russia). In the spring 1790 the Swedish fleet tried to break to Saint Petersburg. In May
1790 Russian squadrons V.J.Chichagov's (10 ships, 10 frigates, 2
bombardier ships etc.) and vice-admiral A.I.Kruz (17 ships, 4 frigates, 8 rowing frigates) have reflected attacks of the Swedish fleet to Revel and
Vyborg. The ship took part also in the Krasnaya Gorca battle. "Treh
Hierarhov" was a flagship of rear admiral I.A.Povalishin.
